Applications for EMI Filters

Electromagnetic interference (EMI), or radio frequency interference (RFI), is a type of electric or electronic emission that can degrade, impair or prevent electrical circuit performance.
EMI filters are used to suppress interference generated by the device, or by other equipment, and to protect a device from electromagnetic interference signals present in the environment.
Most EMI filters consist of components that suppress differential and common mode interference.

Typical problems generated by EMI-RFI interference are:

  • PLCs, sensors, encoders and PCs failing
  • Decreased life of sensitive components
  • Production downtime
  • Disturbance in other buildings / machines

Enerdoor single-phase filters eliminate conducted interference on single-phase lines, ensuring clean power and EMC compliance.
They are compact, easy to install, and available in standard and low-leakage versions for medical use.
They are essential wherever electronic circuits or controls operate on single-phase power and must remain stable and interference-free.
Conducted interference is caused by the physical contact of undesirable voltage or current signals that enter or exit from a specific device through its own signaling or energizing electric conductors.

Typical applications include:

  • Industrial automation and process control panels
  • Power supplies and electronic converters
  • HVAC and compact machinery
  • Laboratory instruments and test benches
  • Medical and diagnostic devices (low leakage current)
  • Renewable energy systems with single-phase inverters

Benefits:

  • Reliable noise suppression, full EMC compliance, and improved stability of sensitive circuits.

Three-Phase + Neutral Filters

Enerdoor three-phase + neutral filters are engineered for systems that include a neutral line, combining compact design with high attenuation for mixed-load networks.
They are ideal in applications combining both single- and three-phase devices on the same distribution panel.

Typical applications include:

  • Building automation and lighting control
  • Test laboratories and industrial control panels
  • Mixed-load power distribution systems
  • Medical and commercial equipment requiring neutral connection

Benefits:

  • Full four-wire EMC filtering (L1–L2–L3–N)
  • Low leakage current for sensitive environments
  • Compact, flexible installation (terminal, bus-bar, or DIN mount)

Below an example of typical high frequency disturbance generated by an automated machine operating without and with filtering necessary to comply with the European EMC Directive Framework 2014/30/EU limits.
