Spindles can operate from a few to tens of thousands of revolutions per minute depending on the required processing.

A machine tool is a machine suitable to convert a raw material in a desired size and form. Such processing is done manually or automatically by appropriate tools. Machine tools can be built for manipulation of metal, wood, marble, hard plastics and many other materials.

A special machine tool called erosion can produce molds to be able to produce many commonly used products. For example, working tools, kitchenware, toys, etc..

Most of the automatic machine tools are constituted by at least a spindle that is used to perform the operations and three linear axes that can be interpolated in the three directions X, Y, Z and serve for the handling of the plane (X, Y) and the Z-axis refers to the vertical movement. Interpolation means controlling the three axes at the same time, not only in the linear directions but also in the circular and spatial directions.  The spindle can operate from a few to tens of thousands of revolutions per minute depending on the required processing.

In this regard it is worth noting that the technology is constantly evolving. Most of the spindle motors are made with synchronous or asynchronous motors with high performance. Another technology used is continuous wound field motors, which are used on machines which required a greater amount of power.

For applications with synchronous motor, Enerdoor has developed a series of load reactors with a known impedance at high frequency (FIN960F) to be inserted in series with the synchronous motor to protect it and the smooth operation of the system.

The series Enerdoor FIN960F has significantly improved the application with synchronous motors ensuring linearity at all frequencies and allowing a considerable saving of energy dissipated, using little power compared to traditional impedances. They are usually installed within cabinets without additional ventilation or cooling due to their low operating temperature. Furthermore, the inductance FIN960F, thanks to the linearity, reduces the loss on the spindle by improving the mechanical precision. Currently, most of the X, Y and Z movements in machine tools use brushless motors.These motors have low inertia and can reach high speeds quickly while maintaining excellent performance and precision. The drives used to control the motors and brushless spindle motors using electronic ballasts are often referred to as industrial drives.
